Little Monsters arrived in the summer of 1989 and carved out a very specific place in the imagination of an entire generation of kids. The premise was irresistible — a boy named Brian discovers that the monster under his bed is real, and instead of terror, what follows is a wild friendship with a wisecracking, blue-skinned creature named Maurice who opens the door to a chaotic underworld hiding beneath every child’s bedroom floor. Together, they made a surprisingly heartfelt movie that got buried in the summer of Batman and Indiana Jones but lived on for decades through cable and VHS — the kind of film that you stumbled across on a Saturday afternoon and never quite forgot.

This custom 12×16 inch mat was designed around vibrant, full-color collage artwork pulling directly from the film’s promotional imagery — Savage’s wide-eyed kid energy set against Mandel’s unforgettable blue monster makeup, all rendered in the bold, splatter-paint style that perfectly captures the movie’s anarchic spirit. Two cut autographs are displayed side by side in precision bevel-cut windows. For anyone who grew up in the late ’80s and early ’90s, this one is a direct line back to that era — a movie that lived under the radar but never really left.
